November: The Goals, Changes, and Challenges

Good evening fellow positive foodie friends! Winking smile How is everyone enjoying November!? Open-mouthed smile It’s definitely off to a great start here in London weather wise!


As usual, I took complete advantage of this beautiful weather and wore shorts Open-mouthed smile Shorts in November!? I’d go for that any day Winking smile


Last night I posted about the importance of having a positive attitude instead of going with my original plan of posting about the new goals, changes, and challenges that I have made for myself now that we are beginning a wonderful new month Smile I am so happy I put this topic off until today because I got some amazing feed back from so many of you Smile I appreciate every single comment that you leave for me to read Smile I read them all and usually leave replies too Open-mouthed smile So make sure you check for replies Open-mouthed smile 
It seems like a lot of us have the same opinion on living a positive life Open-mouthed smile which is awesome because who wants to be grumpy!? We were all given the great gift of life, so we should definitely embrace it and make the most of it Open-mouthed smile 

For the past day or so, I have been absolutely loving all of the posts popping up throughout the blog world talking about setting new goals for the month, ways to make the most of the new month, and inspiration on staying motivated! So many posts have (many more than the ones that I shared links for) have increased my excitement about my own goals that I have created for the month Open-mouthed smile

I was trying to organize my goals into specific categories according to which area of my life they relate to, but you know what? One of my goals are to chillax a little bit more, so I’m just going to go ahead and list my goals; in no particular order Winking smile 

This list consists of many goals that have came to mind recently, but trust me… the way my mind works, the list will keep growing each day Winking smile

– Learn to relax more

– Start using my agenda again

– Be in bed by 10:30

– Stretch before and after exercising

– Say positive affirmations daily

– Attend church weekly

– Write down at least one thing a day that I am thankful for

– Be more spontaneous

– Give others compliments

– Give myself compliments

– Take my time while eating

– Continue challenging myself

– Integrate pilates into my routine

– Become more environmentally friendly

Alright, so I definitely could make this list much longer, but I am sure you get the point. When you overview this list, you can clearly see that there are so many different areas in my life that I want to work on which is a great thing! Smile Goals are a beautiful thing. The list above could use a lot of explaining and elaboration so I have decided to do “continued” posts on my goals for the month Smile These posts will be categorized as so:

– Fitness goals

– Nutrition goals

– Spiritual goals

– Academic goals

– Personal goals

– Blog goals

I think I have a good outline so far and am so pumped to share not only my goals with you all, but the changes and challenges that I have made in each area as well! Open-mouthed smile There are so many updates on my fitness that I can hardly contain myself Open-mouthed smile I am really beginning to notice results and want to share them with you all Smile I haven’t posted too many “progress” pictures, but I think I am ready to start doing so! Smile 

I am also really excited to share more information with you about the foodie side of my life Winking smile Of course I am still having my beloved bedtime snack, but I’ll be sharing some other changes and challenges that I have made Open-mouthed smile 

I hope you are all stoked for the posts to come because I sure am Open-mouthed smile From fitness goals to goals for my blog, I hope you all will enjoy the upcoming posts! Smile 

So to kick off the exciting line up of posts I have been planning for all of you, I will start something new tonight! A new page has been added to my blog (one of the goals I have made for my blog!). This page coincides with my goal of listing one thing a day that I am thankful for. The page is called Appreciate and will list one thing each day that I am thankful or appreciative for Smile I love this new addition to my blog and invite each of you to add the page to your own blog and take part in this with me Smile For my non-blogger readers, grab a journal and write down one thing each day that you are thankful for Open-mouthed smile I did the journal version of this for the entire summer and noticed a huge change in my appreciation for life itself Open-mouthed smile I started to notice even the smallest things in my day that were amazing and beautiful (I think I became a much more positive person because of it!). I highly suggest that each of you try this along with me Smile 
You might notice that you become a happier you Winking smile Who doesn’t want that!? Open-mouthed smile Let me know if you decide to join in on the fun!

What I am Appreciative for Today:

– Food Science Lab being cancelled this morning! I used my entire day to study for my upcoming midterm Open-mouthed smile This made me so happy and feel much more confident about my upcoming exams!


Last night I mentioned that tonight’s post would be a fitness post, sorry about not following through with that, but I can promise you that tomorrows post will be fitness focused and share the goals, changes, and challenges that I have made for myself in the area of fitness Open-mouthed smile I am so excited to post it tomorrow! I was thinking about saving it for last (I always save the best for last), but I am just too excited, so why not change things up a little bit (be more spontaneous – monthly goal!) and post about one of my favourite topics first Open-mouthed smile 

However, I’m not going to totally skimp out on the fitness portion of this post. I can’t do that to you guys! I love you and fitness too much Winking smile

Today was quad day. Let’s just say I was a sweaty mess after this routine (and it takes a lot to make me sweat!) which is a clear indication that it was a good workout and I pushed myself Winking smile I increased the weights for multiple exercises (talk more about this tomorrow) and also added in some core stuff at the end (plank variations; stuff like that).

What I really wanted to share with you all today was this video

Pat Flynn has some awesome YouTube videos! I really admire his technique, so I watched this before my workout and really concentrated on proper form while performing my goblet squats since they are a new to me exercise!
Of course I always concentrate on form while performing any exercise, but I love to watch videos such as this right before I go to the gym if I am performing a new exercise so it’s fresh in my head Smile

Ok, before I get too carried away with my love for everything fitness… I better say goodnight! I still have some studying to do before bedtime.

    Goblet squats are wicked cool, don’t you just love the versatility of kettlebells? 🙂
    Today I’m appreciative for hair ties– it was sooo windy! Haha

  3. Today I am appreciative for my cold going away. Almost gone and cannot wait to get back to the gym!

    The past few months though, I have been greatly appreciative of a new great friend I have found. She has helped me through so much and has helped me get to where I am, emotionally, today. I hope she knows how much I appreciate her xo

  6. I can relate to so many of your goals, especially going to church weekly and taking my time when eating. I’ve been slacking on those for sure.

  7. love your goals! I like the appreciation of the day part. I another cool idea that one of my friends did for a whole year was a pic of the day. Starting on news year she took one pic of something big that happened to her or that summed up her day. She now has 365 pictures that tells her story of the year in a nice powerpoint. It was a great idea and brings back so many great times and laughs.

    What i appreciate today is my great friends and the positive people that I have in my life. 🙂

  8. You’re wearing shorts when it’s 17???!! My, my, we live in different worlds. It’s 23 here today and I’m in in full winter get up – long pants, a sweater and my coat! haha

    I think your goals look awesome and I’m looking forward to watching you smash them all!!

  9. I love youuuuuuuuu! I took part in a workout today – your chest and triceps workout! My arms are still shaking. It hurts to luck my eyebrows!

    I want to focus on getting enough sleep too! And also slowing down my eating. Sometimes I just eat like a wolf. It’s gross and by the time I’m done I can’t even remember what my food tasted like!! Yeah, not good!

  10. Awesome list of goals! I can definitely relate to a lot of them. I need to get back into the routine of attending church every week (I’ve been slacking BIG time- like, I haven’t been in 3+ months. Eeeek.) And I’ve also been focusing on taking the time to stretch before and after I exercise. It’s so important but I tend to skip it more often than not!
    I’ve been loving kettle bells lately! They’re so versatile and you can truly work your entire body with one piece of equipment! Goblet squats are amazing!

  14. LOVE THESE GOALS! I always have 1000000 goals every month too, and people usually criticize that – “how can you work on so much at once?” i’m awesome thats how. And I think a lot of yours will feed off each other so doing one makes it easier to do another 🙂 Also, I’m totally putting that appreciation page on my blog – I think being more aware and appreciative of the good things will make the hard parts easier to get through! 🙂

  15. I love me some goblet squats!! I feel like I can seriously get super deep with them, all while holding my favorite workout tool (my kettlebell!!)

  16. Nice Post! I set goals up for myself this month, and one of them is to eat slower. I swear I eat food, like I would never get it again! Challenging yourself is a great goal! Thats what I do to keep myself motivated, sometimes it’s hard, but you can do it! Great Goals!!!

  17. SO jealous of your shorts!! It’s fah-reezing in Toronto.
    As far as goals go I’m trying to vary my workout so that I don’t get stuck in a running 6xweekly cycle. I’m trying to do something different every day – including active rest days 🙂 I’ve tried spinning and hot yoga by taking a break from running, and I’m having a lot of fun with both!
