Routine Rocker

Hello sweeties Smile How was everyone’s Monday?

Was it the same old same old?

Or did you add some Tetley Infusions into your routine?

Personally, I think I need some Tetley.

I am such a routine person. The entire first two weeks of school my main goal was to “get into a routine”. I literally thought about finding a “routine” more than I thought of my classes. My Mom assured me time and time again that it takes time to get into the “school routine” once summer ends and everything else would follow. She was right. This weekend I finally felt as though I found my groove. I like knowing which days work best to do homework for which classes, when I can fit this in, and when I have time for that. Routines are great; they give your day structure, allow you to accomplish more than if you were totally scattered all over the place, and they are also comforting.

But when does a routine stop being so “great”?

When your day is the same, day after day?

When you know exactly what will happen when?

When there is absolutely no spontaneity in your day at all?

I think all of the above are correct, but I also think that if you do not challenge yourself with something that scares you at least once a day your routine has become too familiar and too comfortable; leaving you with a routine that has lost its pizzazz Winking smile

For the past week I have been leaving my house at 7:50 am for school. I pass the same boy every morning who rides his skateboard to the bus stop. I also drive past the same cutie patootie dressed in a dress shirt and tie (I am thinking he goes to Ivy) every morning as he waits for his bus. I take the same route to school, arrive at the same time, and sit in the same seat for all of my classes.

Some routines are good, but passing the same kid riding his skateboard? I mean, come on!? (I can deal with driving past the cute boy thoughWinking smile)

I may not have to change where I sit in class or what time I leave for school (I still want to arrive on time!), but my point is that when I was invited out twice this weekend and I declined both invites I may have to switch up my beloved routine.

So what if I don’t go to bed before 11:00?

So what if I don’t get to the gym at the exact time I like to be there because I was out late the night before?

I need to start living like a twenty year old who loves life because that is exactly who I am.

Every time I add some variety in my life I enjoy it. Last time I changed things up and did something out of the blue I said, “I should do that more often”.

I believe its time for a change Smile I am challenging myself to do one thing a day that scares me or one thing that strays from my regular routine Smile I can start slow… maybe something new once a week or whenever an opportunity comes my way? But, my routine is definitely going to become less “routine-ish” Smile

Today, I had walnut butter for the first time (this was not a “scary” something, but, hey, it was something I have never tried before! I am more of an almond butter gal Winking smile)

The change for tomorrow? A new bed time snack Smile I have been stuck in a major rut with my bed time snacks. The same old meal, night after night, but tomorrow it will all change Winking smile Mwahahahaha!
(I thought it was the perfect time to insert an evil laugh Winking smile)

Alright friends, my eyes are getting sleepy and I have a busy day/week ahead of me. This homecoming planning is making my week cray zeeeeee! Tomorrow I am going shopping for decorations for the float before my class starts. Fun fun!

The quote fits with my post tonight, but I found it especially fascinating because we are learning about dogmas in Biochemistry Winking smile hahahahaha!

    I LOVE artisana walnut butter…but I can’t buy it anymore …its way too too expensive. Makes me so sad, cause I love love it!

    What are your typical bedtime snacks?

  2. Good morning Meghan glad to hear you have a great start to your days. Maybe to switch up your routine on the way to university you might want to concentrate on the road instead of cute Boys skateboarding or standing around or whatever, when they should be in university or at the law office working!!
